Favorite Story: Last week, I went with my wife on a teacher conference in Chicago. æI contact my brother Everage( Savage). æWell, He, is a true brother. æWe met at a bus stop. æWe were so excited to see each other. æHe met my wife and friends, and shared his pictures that he had from the past. æHe offered to take us to a Jazz club, and we, joined him. æHe not only paid for the entrance, he bought drinks, and he also volunteered to open up the session for the band. æWe brought back some old memories. æI couldn't believe that we were finally together. æWhen the night was over, he offered us to use his new Chevy Impala to travel around Chicago. æI couldn't accept the offer. æ

The next day he would call to ask us if we had any plans to go out to eat, to call him and he can tell us the best places to eat. æWe called of course. We, finally got to go eat some pizza. æHe brought me a gift, a Chicago police polo. æWe met his wife, and shared more stories. æHis wife is also a school teacher. æMan, it was exciting. æThe meal ended and guess who took the bill. æOf course, Savage. æThat day, he took us on a tour of Chicago. We shared more good times. æI also shared him some bad news, about me, he showed his brotherhood feelings. Savage, is a Semper-Fi Brother of mine. æWe shared feelings and stories with each other like we knew each other.
æ
THANK YOU EVERAGE, for everything you did for me and my wife. æMay the Lord bless you and your family, and all the brothers of TASK FORCE GRIZZLY.

Talk about the strangest radio conversation....something like this

2/7: WE'VE LOST A CHOW TRUCK

GRIZZLY: NEED TO KNOW TIME/LOCATION/ PERSONNEL AND PLANNED ROUTE

2/7: ABOUT 15MINUTES AGO, NEAR "X" COMPANIES POS (I don't remember which)

GRIZZLY: NEED NAMES OF PERSONNEL IN TRUCK AND WHAT THEIR PLANNED ROUTE WAS

2/7: GRIZZLY; NO, WE'VE LOST THE TRUCK. THE DRIVER AND A-DRIVER ARE AT THE COMPANY POS.

...pause (as everyone in the CP again stare at each other).....

GRIZZLY: REQUEST YOU CLARIFY, LOST

2/7: WHILE DRIVER AND A-DRIVER WERE OUT OF VEHICLE, IT DROVE AWAY

....again pause....more stares in CP....

GRIZZLY: I COPY; IT DROVE AWAY WITHOUT IT'S DRIVER AND A-DRIVER, IS THAT CORRECT?

2/7: SOLID COPY.....

Seems that the driver never put the hand brake on, and she just rolled away. They followed her tracks and eventually found it, the next morning I believe.

Favorite Story: Dunno, so many...; guess it would be a toss up between
1) The night on the berm when we were underneath an arty duel between 3/12 and some Iraqi tubes, when loud as shit right above us we heard what sounded like a string of firecrackers going off. Everyone scrambled for cover thinking it was some sort of ICM. Meanwhile the crusty ol'Gunny from our Arty LNO team (he looked 120yrs old) looks down at us, with a burning cigarette dangling from his lips, and says; "It's just RAP. No need to be crawling around". -10 Cool points that night.
2) In line with Col Fulks comment; I also remember just how agressive 3/7 was! That same night, I remember the radio call from 3/7 requesting authority to post Marines on the lanes discovered in the minefield. I also remember Col Fulks responding with something like; "No more than Squads". Well, after about a hour or two, I heard the frantic radio call from 3/7 saying that they had 2 Companies already thru, and were in the process of getting the 3rd and HQ thru........there were alot of stares between folks in the CP at that moment.

Message: Listen up people!

Just spoke with Pennington about rooms... he's been doing some cold calling and discovered there will be a convention in town and rooms will be limited.

This affects us because:

´ rooms will be about $ 100.00 (give or take a few bucks... THIS IS A GROUP RATE)
´ all hotels require a Friday night check in for the weekend (no Saturday night checkin)

If you plan to share a room please let us know who you are.

This means get your information in to us ASAP... in order to get group rates locked in now... we need:

your name!
phone number!
home address!
# attending!

The more people we have on board the better deals and rooms that will be available.

For the people who have already sent us their intel... thank you!

Message: Hey guys!
The RUDE God is here. Look we had to put a deadline on it to make it happen. I, along with Mike & David talked to a few people about this. They all agreed. As soon as you can,... RSVP to Mike and David with numbers for hotels and a dining in.

The sooner we get "totals" the better. I have looked at a few online airline ticket sales. Once us "East Coasters" & "gulf Coasters" pass the Mighty Big Mississippi,... tickets pretty much stay the same in price. I actually think the Las Vegas thing is best. We will be sending this to you several times to make sure that you get it. In case kids or wives "accidentally(?)" delete them.

Some of us pukes may want to consider "bunking up" with one another. Someone else has to stay with Chosa. He played WAY to much Great White when we were roomies. I can't imagine going through that again. Oh,... didn't they recently "REDEFINE" burning down the house? God I'm good! "Chez' Chosa"

Some of you may need a little "assistance". Mike & I have talked about this, so take my word for it,... we are doing what we can to make things as "accomodating" as possible. Something else,... It has been brought to my attention that some of the guys may not be happpy with things in their lives, and are "embarassed" to show up and get the love they deserve. Speaking for myself,... I don't care who, what, where, and how you are. I miss all of you. Some more than others. Some barely worth mentioning. Get over yourself,... it's not only about you. I made a few life-long friends in the Marines. I still care about them immensley. We cared for one another, and we still do. Remember that feeling of your buddy drunk as hell. YOU had to babysit him back to the ship in the PI? How about Pattaya beach?

Go Ditto! I cannot and WILL not forget some of the things that happened to me. Sounds like a good thing to sit and talk about doesn't it? Then try it out. Ruck up and call one of your TRUE friends. Yeah that one that you walked the "HIGH" desert with on Congers "Rainbow Runs" I personally hated them,... but you were there with me. Thats what true friends are for. THICK & THIN!

Well,... I am gonna stop for now. But tomorrow night,... I will send another one. I am off the coast of Mexico right now. Love them Latina's. "Que Pa So?"

Jim Out!
Favorite Story: I remember the SAV eating roaches. Didn't have the stomach either. Nor enough beer. Think you can take one now BUUUUUUUUUUUUCH!

Favorite Story: Many stories, but here's one Chosa will remember better and feel free to tell it yourself, its been many yarns. We were in Saudi somewhere and Chosa being American Indian decides to go off away from the Platoon and do his sage burning prayers to the earth God or something. No offense Heavy C. Salinas wonders over and thinks Chosa is burning Marijuana. Salinas went of course and stomped out the fire and just went ape shit. I think Chosa had to go see the Captain, not sure. I was busy setting booby traps or sharping my e-tool.

Here's another story. Inside Kuwait just getting ready to step off into the landing strip of minefields. Pennington and I were in our holes and the XO appears in our direct front. Both of us with SAW's locked and loaded and ready to kill. WE knew it was him, but being good Marines we challanged him. The XO didn't have the password, so we put the XO spread eagle on his face Pennington placed his barrel on his grape and I searched for his ID. The XO didnt really say much until he got back to the Captain and informed him 2nd plt did not challange him while checking the lines. Of course we got chewed out, but it was well worth it. Bus 'it

In the mean time Roberts and I are hunkered down in a fighting position about 10 K inside of Kuwait, having spent the previous night moving across the border....

Message: Thanks my fellow warriors! I've been wanting to do this for the longest time... share photos and swap stories... we can't lose touch.

Actually I ran into a reserve crew-chief that was activated with Miglionoco about 8-9 months ago. Major Miglionico is a CH 53 pilot and flies out of Edwards Air Force Base.

Ran into some reservists at Fleetweek here and he confirmed that Gunnery Sergeant Anthony Cross was promoted to Master Gunnery Sergeant on the steps of one of Saddam's palaces. He's with Fox Company 2/23 southern CA or Nevada area?
Favorite Story: Anybody remember Logie? He was with 2nd plt (old C 1/4) and Lima 3/7... many moons before he went to H&S. Great guy but was not the sharpest tool in the shed. Well he was the armorer for H&S during out stint in PI.

For the first few weeks... all of us armorers (India, Kilo, Wpns and H&S) had to set up shop for our companies. You know it's hot and we're inside all day... so it was nice to have some cold and refreshing water at hand. Well Logie was the closest to the door and always volunteered to fill up the 5 gallon water jug periodically... Well little did I know that dumb bitch kept filling up the jug right out front... at the end of the fence where the spicket had a sign clearly displayed "NON POTABLE WATER"... It's no wonder I had the shits for two fucking weeks!

Also, where the fuck are the 2nd Plt Pipe slingers at, I see plenty of their names on the roster but what the fuck over sound off beyatches, anybody outside of second thanks for chiming in..but lets hear from my boys.

Message: Munger, Good to hear from the LT's we served with. I always wanted to go get shitfaced with ya'll but your proper decorum (and probably my skill at getting into trouble and causing international incidents as demonstrated in Thailand) prevented it. Anyone ever hear about Lt Shepard and whatever happende to him, or Lt's Miglianico, or Baxter?
Favorite Story: I think it was red beach in Subic, Wpns and one other platoon shooting off a bunch of ordinance just to shoot it off, and we convinced the powers that be (Clee Jacksons among them) it was a good idea to get a few cases of beer. Everyone got fairly trashed, firewatch included. I remember waking up and wondering how the hell Hackwith ended up outside of the barbed wire half naked from the waist down. Seems he decided to high jump the concertina wire after some bush bunny shook her ass in his face, but passed out before he could complete the act. All the better since he didnt have his money when he jumped over anyways!

Message: More kudos to Mike for putting up this web site. Mike, you may never know all the happiness you have started by putting up this site - because not everyone who visits this site puts a message on this board. For example, my buddy Lt Tony Perez (now a major in the reserves) and I both live in Miami but if it weren't for this site Tony and I wouldn't have known we were in the same city. Now I know Tony's family (again) and he met my new wife - and we've become fast friends again just like old times. By the way, Tony is starting his own law office and if you want a trustworthy guy to refer a lawyer to you - he's your man.

Also, former Lt Rob Robison is doing great as a career Marine - he's currently a LtCol... man are we that old? Rod has always been a successful leader and I wish him the best! Just to follow up on what happened to the other young LTs... Mark Pawlak became a US Customs Officer guarding our nation's borders.
Favorite Story: That is... Favorite Story "overheard".... Chosa EATING OUT a bush bunny in the Philippines?? Say it ain't so Shaun! But I can't say shit because I paid for it ($17 average bar fine for a 24 hour period) many times in the Philippines. Maybe Chosa didn't have to pay for that one because he was a giver and not a taker! Well done!!

Message: Amen that brother... if you clowns think your marriage is slightly unstable and want a quick divorce... just bring the wifey to Vegas! The stories will be good and plenty!
Favorite Story: Yeah... another one that reminds me why jarheads have no shame... we had our fighting holes dug, lanes marked out and the sun was a blazing during the day somewhere in the S. Cali desert (Fort Irwin or 29)

Ditto wanders off from the 2nd platoon area with an e-tool in one hand and a roll of toilet paper in another. Minutes later I gaze over and see Ditto grunting over his straddle trench attempting to pinch off a MRE brick when halfway through his painful ordeal a column of tanks go rolling by... giving him cheers, ovations and hi fiving each other. Most people would of pulled up their trousers and or turned their backside away from the traffic... the funny thing was Ditto refused to stop... he continued to forceable eject his man made brick without missing a beat. By the sounds of the cheers from the passing tanks I think he was successful in his mission.

After the dust settled Ditto came back to the platoon area as if nothing happened... to this day... If I do something real embarrassing... I think back to that moment and it makes me feel better.

Oh yeah... 29 Palms hasn't changed... the names have but the shanty slum style depressing structures still exist. On base the exchange has a shopping mall style feel to it... it's all enclosed. I'm guessing the air conditioning still goes out in the barracks during the summer hottest day! The only time that place looks nice is at dark when you can't see anything... don't get drunk and try and drive down.

Message: The Re-union is already in motion and the date has been already decided... if you read your e-mail you would know that it's set for Feb 21-22 2004... the last vote was 50%.

Keith and Darlene Hilton have traveled to Vegas to sort out and help set up our re-union... yes, she is a volunteer and without her, we would of never found all you clowns.

The banquet room at the Marine Corps League has been reserved... the cost for us will be $300.00. Pennington if you can get a discount with your membership... go for it.

Dinner will be between $14 - 20 (still waiting on intel from the MCL).

Standby for a break down of costs and payment options.

Rooms and rates still need to be worked out... Pennington can you look into this also? Guessing about 60 people? I'm waiting on feedback about room rates the Marine Corps League might get us... Darlene Hilton will be looking into some numbers too. Once we get some good rates locked on... you are responsible for your own reservations.

The re-union is for everyone from Task Force Grizzly. We will have an official muster/mess night the night of Feb 21, which includes wives, family members, girlfriends, etc. Anyone that wants to have guys night out (adult entertainment) are welcome to join me earlier... I plan on arriving Thursday night, Feb 19th to get things locked on. We can commence our Vegas assault (PI style) Thursday and/or Friday night.

If there is any confusion or disillusion about the re-union, dates? who? where? I am the point man that has all the intel... please contact me and please don't make premature plans... I want all of us to be on the same page and for all of us to be there.

Semper Fi!!!
