we kept kicking the piss out of the Army's 10th
Mountain Division in "OPFOR" training... the
base General ordered Capt. Leahy to let the
visiting 10th mountain to win some skirmishes...
the Capt. said respectfully NO... we're not
here on orders but as guests and we're not your
chain of command... so we packed our gear and
headed back to 29 Palms... those poor bastards
can't perform and needed some brass to cut them
some slack??? |

a fovorite, but one that I remembered when I
saw a new addition to the board; In Panama,
taking a ill-advised climb out on the breakwater
going from the canal into the pacific Ocean,
Frantz Guerrier takes a nasty header after being
wacked by a wave. Ends up having to scuttle
over about 100 meters of rock while bleeding
profously from a head wound. How many stitches
was that Frantz? I'll scan in pics I took and
send them to you. |

same field op/live fire that saw brooks plant
a texas flag on a far flung hill at red beach
saw us PT down to the village on the shore line
and sucking down every beer they had in sight.
Still one of my ALL TIME favorite memories;
A hammock on the shores of the south pacific,
a cooler full of beers, and a fine looking bush
bunny to fetch them for me. Thats my happy place! |
