Message: I will be getting together with Carrol and Chosa in order to put the video on DVD. Once this has been completed we will post how and when to order copies. All procedes less cost of copying and S&H will go to taskforce grizzly.org in order to help offset the cost Mcgehee is putting forward. If you guys can spare a few bucks, I'm sure Kauffman and Mcgehee would appreciate some help in their efforts to bring Lane and Porters families to the reunion and also the cost of the web site.

Message: First and foremost I would like to thank John Porter, Tom and April Lane for visiting and giving us the opportunity to meet with you. Our reunion would not be complete without your attendance... THANK YOU!

I can't say enough how great it was to see everyone back together... and I want to thank the Marines, Sailors and family members that made the trek out and who have helped get this operation moving... can't say enough how memorable this was.

Personally, I would like to thank:
Jim Fulks- for donating money for meals... sorry you had a death in the family and was unable to attend.
Ed Conger - for correcting some misunderstandings and putting up with Savage's cursing.
Darlene and Keith Hilton- for locating Lima Co., helping organize the reunion, appropriating door prizes.
Knauls- for locking on our rooms.
Kauffman- for locating our fallen brothers family.
Chosa- for busting out our t-shirts.
Carrell- always lending a hand.
Ditto- for all the great stories.
Sangi- for always doing dumb stunts that make me laugh.
Corral- locking on TAPS at the reunion.
Savage- for you nonstop cursing.
Gadsen- great speech... couldn't say it any better.
Hylton & Forget- for still being in the USMC... kicking down doors and kicking in teeth.
Edwards- sharing your story... enough said.
Cullen- for not being in jail.
Clovis- being the funniest (alcohol induced) cop I've ever seen.
Pennington- local Motor T and S-3.
Cordero, Wessel, Dionisio, Alsteens, Bergman, Boufford, Brooks, Buch, Garcia, Kettle, Lind, Martinez (Marty), Martinez (TC), McGinty, Mills, Neitzel, Ontiverisotto, Slater, Snell, Cordero, Dionisio and Wessel - for showing up and making our event possible.
Marine Corps League- for setting up a great dinner and allowing us gather for a reunion.

Reflecting back on our Saturday night muster... I think it's safe to say that we all had closure of some type... amongst ourselves, for shedding light on our past experiences and having the opportunity to visit with Christian and Brian's family. I left Las Vegas with a greater sense of relief and belonging... one thing we cannot deny is that WE ARE STILL BROTHERS AND WILL ALWAYS BE FAITHFUL!
Favorite Story: Saving Sangi from giving the girls $100 dollar bills instead of $1 dollar bills. Don't worry, the girls still got their $100... I think that's where I lost my credit card... they ran up a $100 dollar charge anyway!

I don't think my stomach will heal for a while from all the laughing. I thought that Sat. might turn into a "I love you man" fest, however since it didn't let me say "I love you all" (not the same love as Sangi and Knauls share.) Favorite Story: I know what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas buuut.... I had three marines on Sunday afternoon say " Doc, I can't go out another night." So Sunday evening the four of us mysteriously ended up outside a club. Curiously the club was just finishing a male review. Turns out the demographics included 88 women, three marines and one corpsman. WOW!!! Only in Vegas. What a night. It was off the hook.

Message: Man, it was great seeing you crazy cats again. I can't imagine it being any better, except for more participation. The word has already gotten out and several Marines have expressed their regrets. I'm already looking forward to seeing you "MA FUCKAS" in Florida. Much love, Jim. Thank you McGehee, Pennington, Knauls, Kaufman, Hilton for your hard work in setting up the event. Thank you Gadsden and Cullen for coming the longest distance to be with old friends. Thank you to Lane and Porter for making the ultimate sacrifice. Thank you to you devil dogs who stayed in a little longer (Conger, Forget, Hilton, Gadsden . . .) and continue to make our country the safest land on the planet. Thank you Omar and Steven Rodrigues for being some of the best friends a man can have.

Thank you God for Marines.
Favorite Story: Okay, I'm sitting at the table enjoying this feast before me (thank you Marine Corps League) and the comfort of my old Weapons Platoon bubbies. A bottle comes around and everybody takes a sip. Gadsden passes it to Martinez who passes it to Snell who passes it to Ditto (great poem)who passes it to Captain Conger who gives it to me. Here's the irony. To my right sits a man who I "escorted" to the Brig (he got a CM and did not receive an honorable discharge from the Marine Corps). He could hate me and would be justified. But wait a minute. The guy that just handed me the bottle was the C.O. who over a decade ago wasn't handing me a bottle but handing me the other guys "final orders". He also gave me a firm proclaimation that I was partially responsible for this person's infractions because I was his Squad Leader. As I verbalize my observation to the table, my cell phone rings. Calling way down from the deep south was my driver on that infamous brig run, Steven Rodrigues. Is that crazy or what. The phone is passed around with the bottle and we are all just old friends remembering old times and having a good laugh.

I think that it is noteworthy that Captain Conger wrote my mother and the university that I was to attend character letters. I was accepted and graduated with high honors 4 years later. Thank you.

That guy that I drove to the brig . . . Most of you know who he is, but for those who don't, you probably don't need to. We communicate almost weekly now and I am honored to call him my friend. Thanx bro. You made my weekend complete.

Favorite Story: For those of you that have no idea who Tennyson was or about the poem I refered you to, here it is in its entirety;

It little profits that an idle king,
By this still hearth, among these barren crags,
Match'd with an aged wife, I mete and dole
Unequal laws unto a savage race,
That hoard, and sleep, and feed, and know not me.
I cannot rest from travel: I will drink
Life to the lees: all times I have enjoy'd
Greatly, have suffer'd greatly, both with those
That loved me, and alone; on shore, and when
Thro' scudding drifts the rainy Hyades
Vest the dim sea: I am become a name;
For always roaming with a hungry heart
Much have I seen and known; cities of men
And manners, climates, councils, governments,
Myself not least, but honour'd of them all;
And drunk delight of battle with my peers;
Far on the ringing plains of windy Troy.
I am part of all that I have met;
Yet all experience is an arch wherethro'
Gleams that untravell'd world, whose margin fades
For ever and for ever when I move.
How dull it is to pause, to make an end,
To rust unburnish'd, not to shine in use!
As tho' to breath were life. Life piled on life
Were all to little, and of one to me
Little remains: but every hour is saved
From that eternal silence, something more,
A bringer of new things; and vile it were
For some three suns to store and hoard myself,
And this gray spirit yearning in desire
To follow knowledge like a sinking star,
Beyond the utmost bound of human thought.

This is my son, mine own Telemachus,
To whom I leave the sceptre and the isle-
Well-loved of me, discerning to fulfil
This labour, by slow prudence to make mild
A rugged people, and thro' soft degrees
Subdue them to the useful and the good.
Most blameless is he, centred in the sphere
Of common duties, decent not to fail
In offices of tenderness, and pay
Meet adoration to my household gods,
When I am gone. He works his work, I mine.

There lies the port; the vessel puffs her sail:
There gloom the dark broad seas. My mariners,
Souls that have toil'd, and wrought, and thought with me-
That ever with a frolic welcome took
The thunder and the sunshine, and opposed
Free hearts, free foreheads- you and I are old;
Old age had yet his honour and his toil;
Death closes all: but something ere the end,
Some work of noble note, may yet be done,
Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods.
The lights begin to twinkle from the rocks:
The long day wanes: the slow moon climbs: the deep
Moans round with many voices. Come, my friends,
'Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
Push off, and sitting well in order smite
The sounding furrows; for my purpose holds
To sail beyond the sunset, and the baths
Of all the western stars, until I die.
It may be that the gulfs will wash us down:
It may be we shall touch the Happy Isles,
And see the great Achilles, whom we knew.

Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in the old days
Moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are;
One equal-temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Message: It was extremely regretful that I could not make it to the reunion in Vegas this year. The weekend was spent involuntarily going back in time with memories of our time on deployment with MAGTF 4-90 and of course our time spent in the Gulf. I hope that each and every one of you have had the opportunity to view that video that the celebrities made back in 1991 for all of us "Voices That Care". The words to the song are extremely strong and you can't help but remember some of thoughts that were probably going through everyone's head at that time.

Semper Fidelis
