Great site McGehee, thanks for setting it up for all of us. Seeing this page has brought a flood of memories from the past! The pics brought back names and faces that have not crossed my memories in quite some time. Most of my contacts with people I served with have been with people in Wpns platoon, but to see the faces and names of the guys in Third Herd to whom I was attached, was great!I keep in touch loosley with some of the guys from Wpns and will pass on this site to them; Crooks, Wead, Orell, Roberts (still in and now a SSgt in EOD), Kelly. I'll try to track down more. In the years since I've been out, went to college and got that all important degree, and have worked at Citigroup, Prudential of England, and now at Lockheed Martin in Detroit Michigan. Married now with my first kid on the way in October, so I'll be placing my vote for as far out from then as possible as it increases my chances of my wife letting me go. |

Theres so damn many of them, where to start....Probably Mendenhals mention of the Burger Wagon ranks up there, never have I ever, nor have I since waited in line for 3 hours for a hamburger, but none since have tasted so good....Other fond memories; San Miguel Nav Com Sta, camped out on the baseball diamonds for a month. If I remember right, Cpl (now Gunney as I read) Schindler used to light up the dance floor with Kryserewski when he wasnt running 300 PFTs. Also from that era, the party on the coast with the waves breaking @ about 8 feet. From the war, the story that sticks with me most is looking through the sites of the SMAW's night vision scoe and seeing the outlines of vehicles in front of us. Thinking they were Iraqi vehicles, getting ready on the L-T's order to light them up, putting in the ear-plugs, clearing the back blast area, and them scant moments before sending rounds down range, find out they were out hummers that had wandered out in front of us and we had not yet recieved word of friendlies operating in the area. The fondest of all my memories from any of my time in service is from the bus ride home to 29 Palms and the ride down the highway from Palm Springs to 29 lined with well-wishers to welcome us home. |

Once we were in Kuwait, hunkered down and in stealth mode, there was an Iraqi artillery position to our front. All day long fast movers were hitting them. Towards the evening, they opened up and started walking rounds towards us, First Sergeant John was up out of his hole and he started running around looking for a hole to dive into and the CO, Capt. Morris was yelling at him to stay the hell away from his hole, if their FO is targeting him to stay the hell away. It was too comical. Anyways, the planes came back and they shut 'em down. Or does anyone else remember when Lt. Pichon fell off the roof and busted his arm and everyone just bum rushed him for his junk food and left him laying there moaning? Yeah, it was funny. Or when someone in 1st set the roof of the gym on fire. Or Lima left EPO's in their row and they spent the night across from us- when we thought Lima was on line with us? Anyone recall that? Or when 1st used like 20 203 rounds on the chow hall to gain entry and some yelled out "Chow Halls Open Come and Get it". Too fucking funny. |

I had no idea we had this web page I was shocked to see this and I'm thankful for Mcgehee doing this for all of us. I recieved our notice for the reunion in the mail and you can bet you ass I'm going to be there if all works out well for me. I'm pretty busy now a days. I work for the Special Forces Warfare Branch for the Army. I'm an instructor at Military Freefall School in Yuma AZ. Since I left 3/7 I went to Force Recon and spent about 5 years there then to the drill field then back to Force Recon for another tour. Then the oppurtunity came for me to come out here and teach. I'm a Gunny now and should pick up 1stSgt on the next board. I run into Hilton every once in a while out in Yuma and I seen 1stSgt Salinas last week and the PX in Camp Pendleton. I got injured pretty bad about 7 months ago in the wind tunnel in Ft Bragg but I'm back in the fight jumping and teaching again. The discovery channel came out and did a documentary on the school that should air in the Fall or winter so you will see my ugly mug on that. Drop me a line if you get the chance I'd love to hear from you guys. I'm on a much needed leave right now life is good in the Corps even though I work for the Army right now. KEEP YOUR HEADS DOWN AND TAKE CARE SHINDIG OUT! |

Along with the story of the hamburger trolley, I remember the power's that be creating and making us in wpn's use those make shift cart's for the mortar equipment. After discussing with the Lt, and Capt. fairly heatedly, I was told we will use it and like it. Of course about 3/4 of the way to our dig in sight, it broke. |

When weapons (Mortars) we're hooked up like donkeys pulling wooden carts with wooden wheels during the nightime tactical infiltration into the Kuwaiti desert. Talk about a cluster FUCK situation... Can't say that Mortars platoon didn't pull their weight in the Corps. HEE HAW! |
